I have a pair of mirrored sunglasses knocking around here, wrap-around things, like Oakleys, you know what I mean. They have frames. Seems to fit the definition of "such as might be used to frame a mirror", right? I mean, literally. So that's gotta be "legal", right? Any pair of glasses-frames "might" be used to frame a mirror, even if in the event there are NOT doing so... There are SO many loopholes in that description.
It was all in aid of what the OP *wanted* from her challenge: empty frames, empty rectangular frames of a certain size, used in a way that they ordinarily might not be, transported to places they wouldn't ordinarily be found, whatever. She had a vision she wanted to see people tackle. It wasn't so much about FRAMING things, it was about placing/using those frames in whimsical or contrary or unexpected ways.
As Paul correctly pointed out, the "such as" phrase was way to open-ended to support the excommunication of images guilty of creative/aberrant frame usage. That's just the way it is. As Tanguera has pointed out, we're not going to do it that way anymore. If there is a DQ Flag used in future, it will be for challenges such as "30-second shutter speed", with requirements that are objectively verifiable. |
