Ok folks...newer version 1.05 firmware is out and about!

Let's hope this one is a little more successful than 1.0.4 ;)

Be aware of the note they stress:

NOTE:
When the firmware update operations are finished, turn the camera off and remove battery from the camera for at least two seconds. This will cause the new firmware to effect after the battery has been reloaded and the camera is turned on.

When performing the firmware update operations, do so after removing the lens from the camera.

I don;t recall this being there when I updated the 10D, so it might be important.

I have updated to 1.0.5 .All went well .

I've also just loaded it on and it seems to be buttery smooth...so far...I've got a heavy-duty shoot this weekender to put it to the test, hopefully it won't poop out on me like before!! :)
