Was up in RMNP (Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, CO) yesterday. Driving through the "Plain of Elk" and came across an independent shooter by the name of Bob Ross. Wildlife photographer that was out shooting some rutting elk. This is what he was shooting with! NICE!!!! We talked a bit. He is shooting pics for Nikon and stock photo. Said that Nikon has allowed him to test THIS!!! DAMN!!!!!! I talked specs with him. And then he drew me into chimping some of his "elk fight" pics off the D2X. (ME LIKE!!!)
Damn I hate LENSVY! That thing was SWEET! I was tripodin my 70-300, and here he was hand holding at the elk.
Oh! to get Nikon to allow me to demo their works...someday! By the way D70 users...another hands high for it! This is his "knock around" camera. And he thinks it does compare in image quality to most of the real HIGH dollar cameras.

Was this the same Bob Ross that does "The Joy of Painting" on PBS? (as seen here)

Wow, that's quite the setup. I'm not suprised to hear he owns a D70, it seems to be the backup camera of choice for a lot of Nikon users. I know Thom Hogan uses one.
