I tear myself away from the baseball game every 15 mins to take a look.
CUBS fan here, atleast one curse may be lifted tonight.

Here's my attempt...not quite what I had hoped for, but my first time shooting the sky at night so I can't complain. The skies were so clear here in Pittsburgh...

A Hunters Moon!!!
6 second exposure. I over sharpened it, and bumped up the red by a little. lightened quite a bit, and darkened up the hot spot. seperated it to darken the sky and lighten the moon. used an extension tube, took like 20+ photos, covered the lens with my hand when i snapped it (to reduce shake) still hade to crop out like 60% of the photo.

First time shooting the moon with new camera so I can't tell if it's me or my equipment, but I can't seem to get any good shots. I'm shooting my digital rebel with a 28-105 (longest I have right now & I know they won't be wonderful).
I was trying to use the f11(full moon),f8(half moon),f5.6 (quarter moon) rules I read about in Nov. Pop Photography using one over the ISO setting. Is there anything else I should be trying??
Thanks for any suggestions. |

Man I do wish these clouds would blow away. Couldnt get to my telecsope quick enough cause I was working today and finally picked up a camera. And its bout to late to figure out these settings for a snap shot.
Darn clouds! Its a black night!
Great shots that everyone else got though.

Thanks for the kind words! I kinda slapped it together quickly in low-res... but I'm sure I could work on a better resolution one. |

It will take me a while to go through mine in RAW format.
Some ISO 400 noise, but I like this one. Canon 70-200F4L:
1/5 second at F5.6, ISO 400
Here's one a minute later with a little longer exposure:

I was wondering how many DPC folks were out at the same time as me... all taking pictures of the same subject. Sheesh! No originality. Here's my attempt:

Here's mine...
Yours is obviously a LOT higher resolution! I was using a 300mm lens with a 2x extender.
