Site Council, is there a mechanism to appeal the 'locking' of a thread? I believe that a thread that I started was locked "prematurely" by a member of the Site Council. The reason cited as to why the thread was "locked" was that some of the posts had began to over lap with posts in another thread. However, as it occurs with many 'threads', while some posters may bring up recurring topics into new 'threads', most posters do return to the main subject line of the new thread. Again, I believe that the thread was locked "prematurely," simply because the member of the Site Council that locked it disagreed with the content of the thread (given how often we've been on opposite sides of the same issue); and not, as was cited, because the new thread had begun to overlap with a previous thread. Accordingly, if there's an appeal mechanism to unlock the thread, I would appreciate it if someone would point it out.

Thank you.

The lock looks like a fair enough decision to me. The discussions are seeming to run parallel so there is no harm in combining them. Our goal is to keep the number of off-topic 'threads' as small as reasonably possible, so we may be a bit aggressive with these at times.

bdobe, I am sorry if you felt my 'locking' it was "premature," however, I do feel that that particular discussion parallels a number of other ones already started, both with material at the beginning of the thread, and with the direction the conversation was started.
