I have a new SanDisk 512MB CF card to use with my Kodak DC280. I can take pictures fine, I can review the pictures, but when I go to pull the pictures off the card, it tells me the card is empty. Please tell me how I can fix this without losing those pictures. I need them since it was from a dog show this past weekend! Please help! Thanks.

How are you trying to pull them off the card? With a reader, or a cable to the camera?

With some of the San Disk Media, the only way to get the pictures downloaded is to use a San Disk Reader, especially the larger media. I have the same problem with the 256 Secure digital, the only way I can access them is with the San Disk Reader. Hope this helps, it is a very panicky feeling to think you have lost all your pictures.

I have tried my PCMCIA card in a laptop, with a USB cable to another computer and with the built-in card reader on a 3rd. None of them work.

I have not experienced that with my Sandisk media, but I only have 512MB CF cards, and they are not the latest (they are original Ultra, not Ultra II or Extreme).
I'd try downloading them using the camera connected to the 'pooter via it's cable. If the cam can see the pix, there is a good chance they can be transferred.
Then, reformat the card. Try reformatting in the camera, take 1 or 2 pix, then see if the card can be read by the computer. If that fails, try reformatting in the computer and repeat the test.

I've tried via the cable, via a PCMCIA card, and via a built-in reader (in 3 different computers) and none of them work.

Do you have norton utilities on a computer? You can treat a CF card like a regular disc and use recovery and diagnostic utilities on it.

You may want to try image recovery software. If the files are there, the software should find them and recover them. Sorry I can't help with specifics, I have not used this type of software myself. A forum search should yield some useful info, as well as a general web search. Perhaps some who are monotoring this thread may have some insight as well. Good luck.

No, no NU on this computer, just NAV. I hope I'm not screwed on this.

BTW - sent you a PM on a totally different subject.

I do have recovery software on the other computer. I'll have to go give that a try. My daughter dumped Disney pics off another card not too long ago, and the software was worth it's weight in gold when I pulled all the deleted images off.

Update: Image Recall 2 is able to pull the images - thank goodness. But, how can I figure out how to get the pics off the card without having to use this each time?

Reformat it in the camera. Then do a test of a small batch of images. The problem should be gone after a reformat in camera.
