Well, i had a great time this weekend. The local camera club organized a field trip to a Grapefest at a local nursrey/winery. They had activities for the kids, wine tours, horse drawn carriage rides, etc.. They also had a great assortment of flowers and plants. Here's a few shots i took while over there (and a few.. the waterfall images, from a place a bit closer to me, that i stopped by on the way back).

I dont want to insert a whole bunch of large images, so here they are:

oh, and the cat pic i took last night to show a friend, but you're free to enjoy it if you want :)

Well...maybe I can get things started for you...

The flower shots are all fairly nice, but I get bored quickly with photos of flowers because there are so many out there...

The trees are nicely contrasted with the sky which makes those pictures nice and colourful.

I really like the waterfall ones, especially the swirling pattern of the bubbles/foam...It's too bad the reflected colours in the water weren't a bit more dramatic or interesting, but otherwise I really like those two shots.

Edit: I guess I was too slow/long-winded to be the first one!

thanks!

thatcloudthere, those were actually kinda tricky (waterfalls).

To get a low shutter speed (these where 8-10 seconds), i used 2 polarizers stacked, and at 90 degrees to each other. I calculated once what the ND factor was, but i forget.. if i turn it another 90 degrees, it becomes quite bright. Basically, it's just a variable ND filter, with a slight blue tint (which was mostly removed in photoshop). I've GOT to get myself a few ND filters one day...
