Hello guys, greetings from Perú, i'm new in this forum but it would be great to receive some advice, my problem is that i cannot decide which camera should i buy, the ideal for me would be a camera that allows me to do almost anything i imagine like short hq films, timelapses in or out of the city so i can take landscapes too, hell!! even to take astrophotos but i guess that would be more expensive so it's not important, i'm also thinking on working at events like weddings so i can get some money while finishing studies (graphic design).
After doing some research and having in mind the money i have (1100 US dollars) i find 1 possible camera:
-Canon 70d
Mainly for the resistence, the swivel screen, 7fps, i also read that it was better at filming than others and because it's not as older as 60d or 7d but the problem is that i've read and watched that some of this cameras have a focus issue and now i don't know if it's a good invesment to buy it.
PD: I'm a beginner, i made a year course with a compact camera and a canon t3 for a short period so i don't have too much practice but that's the reason i want it to practice aaaaaaall day.
PD1: I only had in mind canon but i'm open to suggestions, i just want a high quality product according to my budget.
Thank you very much for reading, i will appreciate any advice. =D |

Canon 70D is an excellent choice for what you describe. Not too expensive, very high quality build, very good filming capabilities. Don't worry about the "focus issues", those potentially can dog you with ANY camera/lens combination and they are fixable. |

first, welcome! you'll find this a great place for answers, inspiration, and opportunities to practice.
second, i shoot with both Canon 7D and 70D, and like them both. for the money, they are excellent cameras.
lastly, here's a chart comparing the current Canon cameras: click here. it's a pdf, and you'll have to rotate it to see it; feel free to download it.
good luck, and enjoy the site.

+1 for the 70D - I love it!
I have had the 40D, and 50D which both were fantastic but the 70D is even better.
I did consider the 7D too but the 70D seemed to win - can't remember the factors but I recall it was pretty close between the two. |

If you are leaning more to video you could look at the panasonic range of cameras. Gh4, g6, gx7 or the new g7. You could also look at the Olympus range with the new em5 mark II with ibis in body. |

Definitely look into mirrorless. RamblinR mentions some fantastic cameras, but you could even go with something like a Samsung NX300. Image quality on even the Samsung is fantastic. I'd recommend (in addition to the expensive Panasonic and Olympus cameras), Fujifilm X-E1 or X-M1; I believe the Panasonics and Olympuses are 4:3 cameras, and may not be as good in low light. Consider your upgrade path as well when deciding.
That said, 70D is fantastic.
Good luck! |

Hey sorry i couldn't answer before, thaaanks a lot for your advices, i really appreciate it. I would like to know what do you think about the focus issues on the canon 70d but also to know what you think about Pentax K3II for me it's a good camera that has more improvements and i can afford it but i don't know if would be a good choice, the main thing i want to do is to take any kind of photos anywhere, finally i'd prefer to buy from canon nikon or maybe pentax.
thanks again. |
