I took these last weekend. The spider is a common garden spider. and it was pretty big. the 4-5 cm long grasshoper halps give a sense of scale.

I'm thinking about submitting these to a contest or two, but I can't pick which one or two to use.

Thank's for you opinions/advice!

Nicely done, Mark. Nice Depth of Field, good color saturation. My favorite is number 1. I like number 5, too, but there is a bit of what looks like glare ( or possibly lens flare ) in the middle upper right of that photo. ( The same in number 1, but not as noticable there )Number 4 is nice, but is a bit top heavy. It might be possible to crop it with good results - everything else about that frame is great. Good luck in the contest - you should do well.

Great shots! I think the fourth one is my favorite...mostly because you can clearly see the spider's head.

These spiders make great subjects...I should have a pic of one HERE...

Nice shots!
I found one in my back yard area last summer and took a bunch of pictures of it. Did you find its little sac? It looks like a small egg and should be within a few feet of the web, maybe burrowed in the grass. Beautiful creature though!

Don't you just love these spiders...they look so cool...
This one was on the side of the house with her belly full of young 'uns...she laid her eggs the next day...
