As much as I can sympathise with Pep, and believe me I do, that would be stealing a ribbon from the fourth (in truth, third place) photographer. It will be his first, and he deserves it. He doesn't have to feel bad about the way he got it either. He came in third place among photographs taken during the challenge week. Pep's photo was the highest rated, and it was a real good one, but was taken outside a critical rule.

Thanks for those words Jacko. I wasn't happy about getting the ribbon by default, but you have helped to put it in perspective, so am I a little bit more comfortable with the idea now. However I still think that the whole date issue is an administrative detail that should be delt with before the results are announced, and that the original results should stand.

don't forget that in france for exemple , we write date
DD/MM/YYYY and not MM/DD/YYYY as in USA. It can produce some confusion.

About that, formated date and choice in a subset could be a solution

sorry KarenB i made confusion with another challenge site. date is formatted.

Upon submission the drop down boxes clearly allow the photog to choose the month, date and year of exposure.

I agree completely. Admins should at least check on the dates of the winning pictures. And not allow to submit a picture with a date outside of the challenge.
