The Velo Pronto SL-Z2 saddle (or SL-Z3 different color) is probably the cheapest saddle I've ever owned, and by far, the most comfortable. I know that padded bike shorts have been mentioned here earlier in the postings, but can't stress enough just how big of a difference they make. The Velo Pronto is comfortable right out of the box, and gets even better with some break-in. I'm on my second one now since I recently destroyed my first one in a crash.

Deb, The Tour of the Gila was a great event. The only down side for me was that my son crashed in the crit on the final lap in the final turn. He had to be taken to the hospital, and ended up getting eleven stitches in a very deep cut above his right eye. He is fine now, and back in San Diego.

I do have lots of photos of the ToG. I mostly photographed the amateurs since they had professional photographers covering the pros. I did cover a UCI Women's Celebration at a local art gallery, had a handful of photos at the time trial, but most were at the crit, and the final day at the stage called the Gila Monster. If you go to //www.tourofthegila.com/ and click on PHOTOS, and browse the different stages, you'll find sections with my byline. Next year I'll provide larger files. I was told to limit my photos to 800 pixels, but then everyone else posted larger files. I did very little post processing since we had pretty tight schedules after the stage to get the photos up on the web page.

Last year on one of my favorite rides (Pamo Loop), I was going downhill, and had just caught a little air off a jump, I rounded a curve to find three riders coming up the hill. They were spread across the entire trail, and I had no where to go. I turned to go to the extreme right on the trail, and one of the riders turned in the same direction. I hit him head on, and we ended up in a tangle. Neither of us got hurt, but my saddle rails were smashed down almost flat. The other rider's bike had a bent rim that we straightened on the spot. I offered to buy him a new one, but he declined. I guess because of speed, it was at least 60% my fault, but think they were partially at fault for taking up the entire trail.

Yikes! Sorry to hear about your son's crash! That's always scary. Hope he's healing up well.

I'll check out the pictures. There's a young lady I follow on Facebook who is shooting the ATOC. She's a pro now and does good work. I'm taking the camera tomorrow to the start of the final stage. Should be an interesting day with time bonuses...
