I desperately need to upgrade. Whatever camera I get must be able to hook up to studio lighting and have a good aperature range. New or gently used is ok but I'd prefer not to go over $800. Can you get a used digital SLR for that price? If you're selling or have a purchasing suggestion, please let me know. Thanks.

You can get a brand new Canon Digital Rebel (300D) for $879.95 from b&h with the kit lens (Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6)

or if apature is more impotant you could buy the body only for $799.95 and then add the 50mm f/1.8 mkII for about the same amount.

Its a little more than you were looking to spend but you would be getting a great camera brand new. If its to much I would check around the used market there is bound to be some good deals on the 300D now that the 20D came out.

Heres the link for B&H were I got the prices: //www.bhphotovideo.com/

They offer the best prices ive found and I have had very good luck with them. They seem to be very reliable.

Hope that helps some

check out some of the new high-end prosumer cams... like the fuji s7000 (or the predecessor, the S602). those are getting cheaper by the day, and are great cameras.

Thanks for the replies. I just got back from a trip out east. I think I might just face the music and buy a digital SLR. I've got a Nikon film SLR and, from what I've read, I can use all my Nikor AF lenses. I'm still going to do some more research, but I'm leaning heavily toward the D70. A bit over the $800 limit I set, but it's just SOOOOOOO pretty. We'll see... :-)

If you already have some of the lenses the D70 or D100 would definitely be the best choices. You decision should be based on the type of subjects that you prefer to take.
