This just in.
Baltimore's State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced Friday morning that Freddie Gray's death has been ruled a homicide, and that six officers will face criminal charges

Doesn't look good for these 6 cops

The sad part is that the Police Officer's Union still defends them and protested the fact that there were charges filed.

Gene Ryan, the police union president, said the union was "appalled and frustrated" that charges were filed.

It's pretty bad that the State's Attorney also had to issue a statement that she hoped the case would not strain the relationship between the union and the prosecutor's office.

It seems the union would rather have these bad apples in the bunch than to let the case be decided in the same legal system they're a part of. If the legal system is good for the "civilians", why not for the officers?

It's sad that it took an uprising to get this case the attention it deserved. How many other Freddy Grays have their been?

In the US, police officers are civilians, and subject to the same laws (and justice system) they are sworn to uphold and defend.

That's why I put the word in quotes, they indeed ARE civilians, yet all too often, they act as if they are a people apart from those they protect and serve. I used to know a deputy who drove like a complete idiot and would get pulled over, but never got a ticket芒€娄evidently out of "professional courtesy". He liked to joke that his driver's license had an ATL code on it. ATL being an acronym for Above The Law. The attitude was not uncommon among his other law enforcement buddies I encountered.
