Hello,
I've my picture ready for one of the challenges... Except for one thing: I can't seem to figure out how to get the EXIF data to stick. My date stamp keeps on getting reset to when I edited the image.
Does this even matter? I mean, the correct date stamp is on my original image.
Google was no help... or at least the help I found via google was a bit over my head. I'm not a techie.
~Valerie
EDIT: Never mind, when I uploaded the photo to the site, the correct date stamp was listed (no idea how this happened: Thanks Internet Genie!)

There are usually several date stamps in the exif information, such as:
Last Change Date/Time = 2015:04:12 19:17:56
Original Date/Time = 2015:04:12 13:30:04
Digitizing Date/Time = 2015:04:12 13:30:04
(I'm not sure what the difference between the last two is.)
What you saw was probably the last change time, and what the site used was the original date/time. |

Don't worry about the file used as your entry; that doesn't need EXIF data -- some people strip it out deliberately to reduce file size.
Only your original file needs to have intact EXIF (just as it came from the camera) if submitted for validation. |
