I've been away, again. Big surprise.
Bombarded with tons of things.

Anywho... my husband volunteered me to take headshots for the company he works for.
While I'm thrilled he only trusts me to take the photos (his words, not mine), let me say they weren't even considering hiring anyone... so this is non paying. Like I was saying, I am thrilled he has the confidence in me to do this, however, I have NO set up equipment. The lighting there was HORRENDOUS. There were a HANDFUL of people who looked semi-professional... AND, I had to take photos of over 70 people.

Now, I have the task of looking through said photos, editing them to the best of my ability, and then having them all printed (at Walmart, since they dont want to spend much), and then I have to frame them!
All has to be done by Sunday evening!

What the hell?
Seriously!

I had to travel to TWO different centers (an hour apart) to get pictures. Not everyone works on the same days at the same time. This was AND CONTINUES TO BE a NIGHTMARE!!!

So on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I took the photos. Thursday I spent the day traveling to 6 different stores to get the number of frames needed. And I'm spending today and tomorrow editing and framing so that Sunday we can get the photos hung and then go to Six Flags.

Did I mention this is a NIGHTMARE???

The pictures do not even come close to representing my best work. And because they HAVE to be up by Monday (since the big-bosses are all coming in and expecting to see a wall of management), I have to display sub-par work.

I have, however, talked with the director and will be doing a re-shoot in the next few weeks so that *I* am happy with the results. I can't have my name attached to terrible quality.

Anyways, I just needed to rant. HOPEFULLY I can salvage these pictures so that they can be displayed without looking too amateur.

Wish me luck!

Lots of coffee for me! haha

Wow, more power to ya, if it wasn't my mate asking me I would never do something like that for no pay!

I wouldn't have either! Trust me.

But, they were in a bind, and I don't mind helping... I just wish I had more notice so that I could have prepared better.

Next month I'll be doing a reshoot. I will be emailing the director the dates I will be there and times, and ensure that everyone is PREPARED so they can do their hair/make up/etc. (that was the biggest complaint with the women).

Unfortunately, it was a last minute thing with no real preparation. And since the CIO and CEOs and other execs will be coming in early (it wasn't supposed to be until June), it was a split second decision type of thing.

Having to crop and edit 70+ pics in 2 days is not exactly much time. So it's the bare minimum that I can get away with at the moment.

Some pics look better than others due to lighting differences (we used OVERHEAD (dull) FLORESCENT LIGHTING!!!, definitely not optimal.)

I am certain that they are better than you think, AND better than anyone else in that situation would have done. I'm glad you're getting a chance to reshoot. For equipment, perhaps you can rent lights, if you can't afford to buy them.

Good luck!

And tequila is a lot better than coffee....

I'm glad to hear someone else gets sucked into making their life a living nightmare every once in a while. My time period seems to be every twelve to eighteen months. Then I allow myself to be shanghaied into something I regret doing. I've never had anyone anything but happy with the results, but was always mortified myself. I'm sure they're fine. Feelin' your pain! LOL!!!

As far as lights go......

Found this on a quick Google:Photo Video Studio 500 Watt 24in Fluorescent EZ Softbox Two Light Kit
