I can't understand i usually try to stick to the theme but it seems that people or don't like my pictures or they prefer other fotos that don't really stick to the theme but are much better in my opinion can you please tell me the cryteria of things!! don't know if this happens to anyone else!! if the theme doesn't really matter why is there a theme?!?!

I get the same reactions. Maybe my photos are simple and probably pretty poor compared to others, but I do stick as closely as I can to the challenge. Still, I just keep plugging away in the vain hope that one day the theme and the photo match perfectly and score well.

its a little bit sad to see your foto going down on the voting when you know you have sticked to the theme and that you like your foto!!

My opinion: theme really matters. But there could be different interpretations of any theme. There's a challenege description, but that's sort of vague. It's down to the photographer to create something that s/he thinks meets the theme. I do agree there are some entries that would be hard to understand. But then again, you have the right to vote according to how you see that particular entry. In the end, it all boils down to how you see a particular image. When there are over 100 or in some cases more than 300 images, it's the majority who decide. An individual opinion has no great value unless it's the view of the masses. Simple as that.
