Here is a link to a short Ira Glass video on his tips for beginners in creative fields.
I found this very inspiring and timely. It certainly was comforting to have reiterated that most people practice and practice and practice creating tons of work before they become really good. That is really hard to remember some days. Some days it seems like I will never get there...

Thanks you for this, a good reminder and it was extremely inspiring and great words that we need to hear.

I love how he said it is normal, not sure what normal is LOL
This is saved in my folder. I too found it very comforting |

Awesome! A very inspiring piece. I really liked his statement on having good taste. I could relate because in my photography, I got to a point where I could see what is good and I aspired to get there, but the work just did not measure up in my own eyes. People would say I was being too hard on myself, but I could see the gap between my taste and my works. I spent about a year (in my spare time) producing photography and eventually let the fact that I was not bridging the gap between my taste and my work get to me so that I really haven't picked up my camera in a year. Guess I have to get back on that horse...

Quite interesting and a reminder to keep on working on my skills, keep shooting, trying, processing, trying... There is still hope! |
