Very cool!
I loved his site - so clean and simple. Especially the gallery pages. Don't suppose anybody knows where I might get my hands on such template? |

I doubt there's a template involved, but I'm sure you could (or you could get someone else to) reverse engineer the site's html/php and use the ideas yourself... The other option is to email the photog and just ask :o)

Yikes, not very ethical in my book. Of course, it depends what you mean by 'reverse engineer'. I hope this doesn't mean 'rip off'! The safest and most legal way to do this is to code as much of it as you can yourself (Dreamweaver is a good option), and only look at the code if you're really stuck. If you actually lift any code, make sure you ask permission, and make sure you credit the original author. |

That's true! Gee, he might even appreciate the feedback, ya think?
I am about read to just pay somebody to do my site. I'm not good with all that html crap, or xml, or java - I'm hopeless! |

Don't worry Bobster! I certainly wouldn't rip off anybody's code and I don't think that's what Manic meant at all - why that would be just as bad as snagging a photo and using it without permission. |

I was gonna say in my original post that I didn't like the site layout :-(
Sorry!
And designers use ideas from other people's work all the time..as do musicians, photographers, whatever. As long as you're not 'copy/paste'ing directly from the site you'll be fine. |

Copying the layout is fine. Copying code is not. |

Why? I would freely give my codes out to people if I knew how to do that stuff. Or is it a matter of greed?

It is a matter of intellectual property and copyright law. Like anything else, copying code is OK if you ask and get permission first. |

*snicker*
Sounds like any of a number of the posts around here dealing with copyright's and lifted images being posted on any of those Photoshop hack web sites.

I really like the site design and the gallery set up.
The only thing I don't like is that the "names" of the galleries don't give me much idea what they contain and I'd prefer to have more of a clue to help me choose which ones to enter.
The visual design I think is beautiful.

Sounds like just the right way to redesign your site to me... a case of not throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I think overall it's an excellent design and certainly one of the most striking sites I've visited recently.
