I have the canon digital rebel and am getting a sever color cast on all images taken in deep shade with a slow shutter speed. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to counter this? Lens filter? Plain old photoshop editing? camera settings?

Have you tried setting the white balance to shade or using a manual white balance?

been experimenting with shade and cloudy not been creating one, it seems the overall cast is green, I can correct it with levels and curves in photoshop but it would make life alot easier if I didnt have to do as much of that

Is the green cast coming from nearby trees? Maybe even though they are in the shade, the light is filtering through the leaves and creating the tint...?

it could be that it is coming from nearby trees but it also seems to be there in places that there isnt alot of filtered light. Here is a general example

The light is filtering through and reflecting off green leaves, this explains your green color cast.

To get rid of this, you will need to set a custom white balance. Your camera's manual will explain how to do this, but it involves shooting a reference frame (photographing a white piece of paper full-frame near the subject of your photo is the easiest way) and telling your camera to map the color in that frame to white.

Review your camera's manual for step by step instructions.

I am going to try setting a custom white balance the next time I get into a shade situation like that. Thank you all very much for the help and insight.
