The main issue seems to be folder colors not updating. They are all gray all the time, even if the folders "should" be blue. Sorry if this has been discussed before (did a quick search) Javascript problem? Maybe Firefox has the bug, not DPC.

Work for me, and I use Firefox.

I don't have a problem with FireFox: when I log in, all folders that have had new posts since the last time I visited are blue, all others are gray. When I stay logged in and I go back to the main page by clicking on the DPC logo in the top left, all folders that have new posts since the last time I opened that folder are blue, others are gray. Isn't that how it's supposed to work?

Maybe my cookies aren't fully baked yet? All my folders are gray, don't see any blue ones yet.

More better to fix firefox ala netscape for websites don't you think?

Never had any problems on DPC with Mozilla/Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox, other than the menubar. Try clearing out your cache and cookies and try again. If this fails, it might be worth grabbing the latest firefox build (or even a nightly build if you're already on the latest release).

Works fine for me, too. And I'm running 0.9.2 on one box and 0.9.3 on another.

0.9.2 works fine for me too - haven't seen evidence of the problem you describe

also just upgraded to 1.0 and thats fine too.

Yeah, I stand corrected. All seems fine now. I guess I was expecting all the folders to start out blue and then age to gray. Instead, they seem to all start out gray and then as new posts arrive they go blue. My bad.

I am useing Firefox 1.0PR on both Windows and Linux and am not having the problem you describe. I also did not have the problem in Windows versions 0.92 and 0.93. You might try clearing your cookies and see if the problem persists.

I use firefox and like it but one thing that really bugs me is when your going back and forwards in the forums it always takes you to the top of the page and not where you last scrolled down to.
Is there a fix for this?

The problem appears to be related to some HTTP headers that are being sent related to how DPC pages are cached.

My guess is that Firefox is a bit more pedantic about following the "intended" meaning of these headers, which from what I can tell, causes any DPC-rendered page to already be "expired" as soon as it arrives at your computer. Therefore, when you hit the "Back" button in Firefox, it checks the cached copy it has in memory, and says "oh, this is expired, I better refresh it." When it does this, any "page anchor" information is lost.

Admittedly, this might be the "proper" implementation given the dynamic nature of the DPC content -- the home page is not "static", and any time somebody submits a new picture to a challenge or replies to a forum post, the front page "changes". The IE behavior allows you to navigate "Back" to the home page, and unless you explicitly refresh, you don't see the latest update...

I have this problem on all sites, not just DPChallenge. I believe it is a Firefox issue.

I'm running Firefox 1.0PR and tested several other forums and sites (such as Google) and they behave in the "preferred" fashion of not moving the page position when navigating with the Forwards/Backwards arrows... strange.

I wanted to bring this back up again to ask if anyone has found any sort of fix for the taking you back to the top of the page issue? I'm retrying Firefox and hoping to use it exclusively but I find that bit to pretty annoying...especially on the DPC when there are three sets of challenge winners and I'm trying to read the forums. I'm plenty lazy. :)

DPC is the only site that I have noticed that does this when using the back and forward buttons. Other sites work just fine, there are a few sites that do this as well, but when you visit a site 100 times a day it does get a little frustrating

I think it's something to do with DPC's page caching pragmas, which means all gecko-based browsers see a new page each time, rather than an old cached one (which would allow you to go back to the same viewing position). Something only D&L can sort out, I'm afraid...

I use Firefox 1.0 on a PC with Windows XP Pro and have no problems at all.

Interesting. I'm using Firefox 1.0.1 on a PC with Win XP Pro and I do. I wonder why? Maybe there's settings I can change?

I am no expert, just use the default settings. But, with so many folks having the same problem, there just has to be a difference. Hope everyone gets it nailed down!
