Quick question! Anyone having trouble opening Canon's 20d raw .cr2 files in photoshop CS? I've downloaded the latest raw plugin from adobe at version 2.2 which claims it will now handle .cr2 but from the markII...however CS won't open the 20d .cr2 files...thanks for any help? |

The plugin is not available yet. It should be shortly I hope. You will have to use the Canon software til then. :(

Hey,
You can open the raw filter, and hexedit it to support 20D. Just replace the name of the MkII with the 20D model. It works great, there is only one "bug" and that's the whitebalance that looks weird, but just change it to auto and everything is fine. (Of course you can also change the whitebalance as you want, works fine. It's just the default setting that looks rather "green" . )
Good luck, and let me know if you have problems!

Interesting side note. Adobe is pushing a new standard for RAW as outlined in this article.

ahh, i just saw the adobe DNG article on adobe's website too! Sounds interesting!
.....well after over an hour I was finally able to download the v.2.3 and IT WORKS!! er, sort of, the important part is 20d raw shooters can now actually edit the file...BUT thumbnails will not show up so if you didn't do a full separate .jpg embed you will be a bit handicapped in knowing what files are what in the browser.
Terje! ...does your trick show the .cr2 thumbies in the file browser of photoshop?? |
