Maybe the "someone" who should start it is you! |
Please do ... in the meantime, here are some old examples of varying degrees of UnsharpMask application. |

Not that it apparently matters, but I went ahead and renewed. My wife says I need a creative outlet, even if it's only once a month. Kind of funny really. Used to be she hated the amount of time I spent here and shooting photos; now she's nudging me back in! |

Hmmm... Looks like it took about ten months to get to 45 registrations. Looks like about ten days for the last 45.
Want to see how fast DPC becomes relevant to you? Try doing something new with your photography.
As long as you do the same old thing, DPC seems to be the same old place. Do something different, ask different questions, and suddenly you are talking to new people... |

That the same people are still in these forums, I would expect after a year to come back and not recognize half of the names. So what is the main problem with DPC is not that it isn't a great site with lots to offer....its that no one but us knows about it. DPC needs to get into the game of promoting itself, it is a great site with great potential but it is going going going gone if Langdon isn't willing to get us higher on the search lists and promote us on social media sites.
I think everyone gets a little bored with the same people making the same comments. Even the challenges all start to look the same without new people entering new photos and new ideas. Anyway I do check back and I love the help that I know I can always get from everyone here. I think most of us want a chance to help someone new but there isn't anyone new to help. |
Best post in the thread so far. |
I was going to say that, but you beat me to it, the bold resonates the most! |
*raises hand *** I am still very newbie and will always accept help and mentoring
I loved TPL because of that and having that awesome feedback was very much what I needed, to me, things look good, to the trained eye... Crapolla!
Needs work, keep working, try this or try adding or doing that. The support here is amazing and I thank all of you who have taken the time out to help me along my way
I still have huge issues when it comes to editing, but still going through some classes now *online* It has helped me with the work flow tremendously, but with the different tastes here it is hard to come up with a style I like or my "own thing" I am finding out what I love to shoot and don't, so the journey and learning there has helped me immensely. I know now that I won't have to worry about spending thousands of $$$ into studio lighting or portrait lenses which made my hubby even more happier.. I am finding what I want to splurge and dive into. I think that is a good start.
I have learned to shoot off from auto mode thanks to DPC and a few mentoring friends, that took me 3 months to learn, but I still have to learn how it all works together now, ISO, Shutter speeds and the Aperture.. I know what things mean, I had no clue what Aperture was or even knew how to set it on my camera when I joined last spring. Still taking it slow still. I may be 100yrs old and dead by the time I consider myself out of the remedial class LOL
I have learned what shutter speeds are what now. When I joined a year ago, I was not understanding how to make things blurry or even how things were made to look still in motion, I learned what Bokeh was... that was a sounding food snack euro name to me when I joined and I had no idea what DOF meant or even knew what basic photography terms were or meant.
Thanks to DPC I have made amazing friends! That in itself, there is no price tag to put on.

Something I have noticed for the last few months is that the lens camera and camera settings for the shot is no longer listed under the image. I used this a lot help understand settings when I first started photography. Why are we not making this a permanent feature for every image submitted in a challenge. |

True, that's a good thing and I try to always either leave the EXIF settings by saving it with that option turned on or to manually put in what they were. |
