I use high capacity NiMh batteries in my SB600 and both the life and recycle times are amazing. Recycle is almost instant. Price of these batteries was not even twice the Duracell ones. Including charger about 10 times Duracell price.

For what it's worth, you'll actually see better performance and be doing the environment a favor by using rechargabeable batteries. I use PowerEx 2300mAh batteries and this charger with my on-camera flash and they work great.
Although this review is a little dated, the information is still relevant. Compare the Watt-hours of output you get from a high-quality rechargeable to an alkaline battery (which are listed at the bottom of the table). The Powerex 2200 produce 10.10 W-h, while a Duracell Ultra only produces 3.66 W-h. What that means is that your recycle times will be shorter with the rechargeables, because the capacitors will be able to "suck" energy much more quickly from the Powerex cells. |
