......Preferably to another Nikonian that can help out with a lens.

I'd keep it short & sweet, but hey......that's just not my style. I bought this unit new, for my kid when she was going to Hawaii. She used it on and off.......I'd be surprised if the thing has 5000 clicks on it, but it got her through her teen years of limited interest.

The bad stuff.....the battery charger is long gone. I know the battery works 'cause I strapped it to my D70/D200 battery charger with a rubber band & a shim to make contact. I called it manual focus, because whatever the cameras sends out to the Nikon SWM lenses no longer functions. But you can manual focus with it. No lens, but you can get older manual lenses that'll work on this thing for pennies almost anywhere.

I'll even pay for shipping, ground, to the lower 48 since this is such a mixed up deal. I just can't bear to throw it out, yet I don't even want to store it.

Over here we would give this sort of thing to a charity shop, you must have some such thing I guess.

Yes, but I had this wild idea that since I'm on an active photography website with people who pretty much know what they're doing it might actually get used and appreciated. The charity shops, if I'm understanding your interpretation, turn around and sell the goods. This is an older, problematic unit offered for free in the hopes that despite its limitation, it would find a home.

I teach a photography class to High school yearbook kids part of it is using manual focus stuff. I could use it in my class. I'm a nikonian and have plenty of MF lenses.

Have a friend's daughter, high schooler, who is getting into photography - her parents have a canon powershot, but she's wanting to learn how to use what she calls "real" equipment. She wants to get into the field as a career, so in case it doesn't go to Matt, just wanted to voice that I could provide a good home. I'm a Nikon user and would be able to provide some lenses for use with the camera.

I'll drop you a PM later.......I have another "Lost soul" of a camera that may work for her.

I'm trying to clean out some of my older stuff that I can't bear to throw out.
