Not sure where to put this so move if needed.
I noticed that every vertical shot and most square shots I have to scroll to see the entire photograph. The strange part is that on some I have to scroll more than I do for others, not sure why that is. Either way it gives vertical shots a disadvantage in my opinion. I try not to lower my score on them but I can't help but feel that it does hurt the scoring on them. |

It's an ongoing project. In theory, the images are being scaled to the available screen space for each presentation. It's working fine for me with Chrome browser. What browser do you use? I know we'll be working on this going forward. |

No scaling in IE8.
FF33 scaling works as described.
Speed is insufficient reason to use Chrome, and I'm not a Google person. |

I wonder whether it 'maps' the long edge of the image with the long edge of the screen. For example, I open a portrait image on my non-retina iPad when viewing in landscape and I have to scroll. Rotate the iPad and it fits perfectly; might the same be happening for other monitors where the ability to rotate does not exist? |

My video software supports monitor rotation, but the mouse cursor doesn't cooperate, so I won't be doing that!
In general, I agree that the bigger images offer superior visual appeal, but voting in IE8 has become tedious. With FF, I just don't like the scaling because there's a delay. The resampling seems good, and is certainly good enough to evaluate composition, lighting and story.
In my perfect world, all submissions would be 1200 x 960; would fit my monitor, and I could vote with one hand on the number keypad as I had.
Lastly, I suggest that the upper screen alignment should have about 10 - 15 px of DPC gray at the top. I keep wanting to scroll just to see if the image is cut off. |

Chrome browser here: https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/
Firefox browser here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
The above browsers work great at auto and instant resizing for voting at DPC.
My version of Safari (Version 6.1.6 (7537.78.2)) does not auto resize and requires scrolling for voting at DPC.
Vote with either the Chrome or Firefox browser. There is no excuse to be locked in to an incompatible browser. |

Why would there be no excuse for the resizing to be compatible with all browsers? Why is the burden placed on the user and not the website? |

I am using Safari. For those suggesting different browsers all I can say is no thank you. I like Safari and how it works with all my other Apple products. I can pick up my iPhone and open to a page I was looking at on my desktop or laptop or iPad. Don't want to give up that ability and seamless integration that Apple has supplied with its products and software. Knowing the issue tho I will not enter square images or portrait images and when it comes to voting those types of images will have a disadvantage. I try not to let it effect my vote but in some ways I really think it does. |

No one is more faithful and loyal to Apple products and apps than I am. I like Safari, too. However, there might be a viewport scaling bug in Safari that is preventing the auto scaling behavior achieved by other browsers. By all means continue to do what you want to do. But, Chrome is a very capable browser on my Mac products. |
