Please critique these photos

Got my D70 a few days ago, these are my first ever good camera shots (previous was Canon S400). Can I get some critiques? I tried to shoot some action shots with my Tamron but the AF kept focusing on the trees in the background. I had it on F2.8, maybe up it to F4?

I think the Nikon Zoom Lens shots are good but not quite as sharp as I'd like, and maybe a bit bright?

Black dogs are hard to expose right. In the first pic you are lacking eyes and most details. In the frisbee shots they mostly show action, which is good, but the dog is just a very small feature and is lost in the rest of the scene. Ideally you needed to either zoom in on the dog or try to crop the images to mostly fill the frame with the dog, which is and should be the main focal point.

Also on the D70 you need to check which modes you are shooting in. If you are using Auto, it's going to always default to the "closest object" in the scene. That may not be the object you wish to shoot. :)
