I recently got Adobe PS Elements and have been playing around with the software. Until now I've only made minor adjustments in Picture It and my Kodak software that came with the camera, and I still don't quite know how to use the burn tools. Anyway, the first photo is pretty much what came out of the camera, just slightly cropped and nothing else. The second one I increased the darkness of the backlighting and tried to increase the red of the petals and get rid of the green. Is it an improvement or did I go too far?

Both look great. I like #2 better Red against the black and out with the green.

The second one is much better! Clearer and with better color.

I think the 2nd one looks better as well. There is a bit of distortion going on near the top of one rose... a bit of green stuck around on that 2nd rose down from the right side. Edging back on the saturation of the red may help to make the flowers a little softer, in my opinion. I guess it depends on what kind of look you are going for :)

I prefer the coloration of the first, but the contrast of the second.
