Just put a CF card in to my new 20D and have noticed the numbering system is starting at 7500 which is from my old camera so how do I reset back to 1 so I know how many photo's I have taken with the 20D, Does That make sense? |

There shoudl be an optioin in the menu to reset it to 0.
compact flash cards sets the numbers, so if you use one to the other without resetting, you'll start with what it was left off of. |

Assuming you have a "card reader", erase you card in your computer...and remove the battery from the camera, then re-insert the flash card, this will reset the numbers.. but you must wipe all your cards before inserting them for the first time.

What you do is give it to your good friend Terry to use and he will work it out for you. It may take him a month or so, but you will get it back and the count will be reset to zero!! |

That's weird. My G2 wasn't like that, and I don't think the Rebel is. It started with 1, and runs the numbers sequentially, even though I have three 256MB cards I swap between.
If they did it that way, what would happen to you if you had more than one card? It would never know what number to use.
My guess is that the sequence is contained only in the camera. You may see something that matches on the card, only because the sequence number is used to write the photos!
You can certainly correct me if the 20D is different, but I don't understand how that can be. |
