Ha! I have the exact opposite issue

Ha, Indeed. There ought to be some way we could work out a trade.

You are free to ask for editing advice/suggestions (I did!), but not to "lend" an original ... :-)

OK, could someone send me their custom made odriew filter? I would happy accept either a Color Efex Pro 2 filter for those sunwashed color images or a Silver Efex Pro 2 filter for those dreamy, foggy monochromes. Thank you in advance.

Wow... I got some incredible shots last night!! What an incredible spot! Unfortunately, it was in a dream, so I need to start over.

Mine's in.

Speaking in the abstract here, I *hope* people aren't just trading "odriew filters" back and forth: a lot of the value in this challenge lies in trying to figure out for yourself how he DOES that :-) It took me quite a while, but I think I I got into the ballpark technique-wise. Subject? Not so much so, but I work with what I have :-)

If there's a odriew filter, where's the Bear_Music filter? You know, the one that turns a puddle in an inner-city slum into a beautiful marsh with swans and lighthouses and spectacular skies with rays of light coming down?

i'll have to delete odreiw_filter.exe from that email i sent mark then ;)

honestly, i don't know what others are doing or trying, but i don't think there's any set range of settings you can "apply" to an image to have it give a desired effect. i know that from what I tried, it was virtually impossible to distinguish a particular set of finite answers, moreso it's up to the photographer to figure out the combination of settings in a given photograph with an idea of how to use existing framework (layers/cloning/dodging/burning/sharpening etc) in concert to get the effect, while using stuff like curves/balance/etc tools to get the tone where you think it should be.
it's the same as emulating anything - you deconstruct what makes it "It", then see if that can be applied singularly or uniformly, filling in any gaps with your own ideas.

I just downloaded Adobe's "odriew texture file"....

Of course, like vawendy, I did it in my sleep. P

Actually, there IS a bear_music preset in CEP4 (my installation of it anyway) for turning otherwise mundane marshes into glowing fairlylands, but it doesn't work on concrete and asphalt :-)

I fear that my entry entirely misses his ethereal, whimsical content, which I then assaulted with a delirium of filters to approximate my interpretation of his style :(

Oh that exe filter will likely put a nice texture all over your hard drive :-).

I was kidding about the filter (maybe half kidding). You are, of course, right, and it's not like I haven't been trying. I have been tweaking, tinkering and toning in an attempt to get close. Most have ended up a muddled mess, and I am not sure what direction to try next. Most of us lack your keen eye for color and your adept ability to bend images to our will in Photoshop. But, I suppose you didn't hone these skills by having people give you filters.

I am right there with you, sister.

I agree but I would like to see a thread after the challenge is over where people discuss how they did it.

I will contribute if you can remember to start it ... FWIW my source image was shot for the challenge with something other than my "normal" settings ...

My PS file is a mess and I don't even remember creating some of the layers... but will participate.

Phooey phooey phooey. Missed doing something for this one. And the vast majority is daytime outside. :(

Layers of filters? This is where I tend to be a bit of a novice.... I would try, but I'm actually kinda OK with what I ended up with. It's not quite Odriew enough but I'm hoping it's in the spirit enough!
