Boy, What a mistake. I was considering using this picture in the Master's Challenge and had uploaded 2 versions of the picture. One version I put in the Master's Challenge and the other one in the Action Sports Challenge so that I could see how each looked online. I forgot to unsubmit this version! Now, I not only got killed in this challenge but I can't use the picture for the Master's Challenge either. To make matters worse my camera is at the shop for repairs and may not be back in time for me to take a picture for the Master's Challenge :(. The only consolation is getting to read all the comments people made on this picture. It apparently received quite a bit of attention. Thanks to all for your comments. |

The other consolation is that it's an awesome picture. I'm sorry you can't submit it. :( |

i'm so sorry to hear that! like i said in my comment, it's a beautiful photo, and a shame it won't be appearing in the masters challenge... but you know what, thanks for sharing it with us, contest or not. it is lovely and photos like that continue to inspire those of us who just seem to fail in most aspects of photography. i'd lend you my camera if you weren't a million states away (and not that my camera could compare to yours). :)

I'm so glad this was a mistake. I really liked the photo and I find it frustrating when people enter stuff that obviously don't fit the challenge. You must've been kicking yourself all week :-(

That's real bad luck Lawrence. You even missed out on the brown ribbon as well! |

Wow 77 comments, the winning photo only got 44!!!!!
Beautiful picture though. The horizon is a little crooked so some rotation would help it. |

Thanks for all the kind remarks. Now I will forever wonder how this shot would have done in the Master's Challenge. There are so many fantastic artists in DPC that I was not expecting that this picture would do that well, but I did feel it was worthy of entering.
Just a little backround on the picture. We went to the Shanendoah mountains for the weekend. Early in the morning I was driving down the mountain on the way to a golf game when I drove past an overlook and saw the sunrise. It took about 10 seconds for it too sink in. I stopped the car, turned around and took several shots as the sun came up. This was the best in my opinion. By the way, I still made my Tee Time! |

Maybe it's coincidence, but since the photo was titled "1" and obviously had nothing to do with the challenge, I assumed this was a deliberate attempt at the brown ribbon (Like Jacko's "Angry Kitty").
Sorry about your misfortune. Remember that you don't have to upload a shot to see how it will look online. You can open a JPEG directly in any web browser (Internet Explorer, etc.) without uploading it first. |

Or you can upload it to your portfolio...
Or you can upload it to the same challenge in a different browser and keep the old one open...
Must be really annoying!
