People don't hire me at events to specifically take pictures of them. I go to the event and take pictures of everyone. If they want a photo they pay for a print. That's how I make my money. If they don't want to pay for a print they can look at their photo on the internet, and with pbase, link their friends directly to the image online.

I don't consider it rude it all... it's pretty much how (non-hired) event photography works here.

Now that's pretty gutsy! What did your colleague do?

I didn't know you were doing unsupported i.e without them asking you ala usual event photography.

So who is your target market? 90% of usages will require some model release so surely you need them on your side?

Unless your just targeting the riders wanting pictures of themselves?

I think I am lost a little..

Jon, in this case I think Tina is talking about event photography, so her primary purpose IS to charge the subject, because that's who's buying the shots!

I've experienced it myself - if you don't have watermarks, you photos WILL be reproduced. My colleague has actually had a potential customer come up to him with a page or two of our shots printed half-A4 saying how nice they look..

But even with a watermarl they still can - you just have to show small samles not huge big ones. That way they can't print A5 A4 etc
