Before someone says "refer to 'X' thread", I've already read it.

I know with the 580EX and my 10D, it will not auto set the crop factor, seeing as it does not have E-TTL II.
But can I manually set that crop factor in either the 550 or 580 models?

What other things are "auto" in E-TTL II?
And can I "manually" set them using an E-TTL flash unit like the 550EX??

I am very tempted to just get the 580EX just for future-proofing my photo-kit.

Sorry to bump my own thread only 48 minutes after posting, but I'm needy for some information...

Can I set a crop factor manually on the 550EX or 580EX speedlites, for use with an EOS 10D???

And, how important is this crop factor setting??
