I just went through some of my very first photos I took when I got my point and shoot 2ys ago and my DLSR shots which I have received last Chrismtas.. ..
Some of those photos I am looking at going what the hell did I do? That is the worst pics ever.. at that time I thought it was really really good..

Another thing I noticed was the processing.. what the hell was I thinking when I processed them? Over sharpened, over vignettes, totally blown out exposure, totally blown out darkening/shadowing or fill lighting, over clarity added... .. I had to laugh and shake my head because now I would not even think about uploading something sooo bad! LOL
I am not sure if it is because I am starting to become in-tune and I am getting better taught about things now, but I am debating if I even want to re-process some of these images or just delete them all together..
I am not attached to these photos at all...

How long do you guys keep things in your website portfolio or delete them out/change them out.. or do you keep all of your photos on the web since day one?
I keep all mine on Google + a lot have been promoted by admins of the communities (only my very recent ones LOL) I belong too, but my very first ones, I am debating about.. not sure.. maybe its a sign of.. this is where I was .. this is where I am now LOL

Kinda a blast from the past walk through of my photography

Most of us have those "what was I thinking?!" pics if you go back far enough. Years afterwards I can see why something performed so poorly. There are others that I still think are good, but weren't what the collective consciousness of DPC prefers.

Also keep in mind that a mediocre entry on DPC is usually one that will have your friends and family wowing over the work you do.

Can't say I have an answer for your questions.. in general, I like to keep everything because I'm a bit of a hoarder and everything is a memory to me...

But I definitely know all about the "WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING!?!?" Just look at this entry in all its atrociousness. I'm actually shocked that 23 people gave me a 6+ score in it. In my (very small) defense, when I shot this, I was using an old computer monitor in which everything looked MUCH darker than it actually was which is how I ended up with such a bright and over-processed image. Once I saw it in a regular screen, I almost cringed.

You live and you learn! That's for sure.

Did you ever look at a picture or a painting, or even a sculpture for that matter, and say, I love that but I don't know why, it just works and has impact? That's the art of it. This for me, occurs at every level of the challenge results.

When friends say wow, are they saying "wow, your camera takes nice pictures,"(likening you to a pro wedding photographer) or "wow, that's an artistic shot?"
I guess one needs to ask, has dpc helped me more than a $4k camera and a community college course would have?
