This is a photographic site and while all threads need not be about photography they certainly should not be about polarizing subject such as Religion and politics.

These threads always invite the kooks, the fanatics and the unbalanced. Not only that, but then there are the insults and ultimately the hard feelings.

I know it gives the looney element of both party's the opportunity to show just how uninformed and rude they are as persons and that they can not debate ideas but rather quote from their sources.

It is not for any of us to censor anything, but the site has limited resources and these rabid fanatics are simply hijacking space that can find a better use. While I will not censor anyone, I certainly wish that these members would find it in their hearts to keep their prejudices to themselves or to go to another site that excells in political ignorance. lol

I'm really starting to resent this sort of blanket categorization ... I neither rant nor insult anybody -- I am prepared to debate ideas and issues.

There is no way you can divorce photography from politics or religion or anything else -- if you have a good, meaningful photo it will probably bear some relation to one or the other of these areas. The state of the world certainly influences our photographic choices as well.

Since we are a worldwide community there is bound to be a diversity of experiences and opinions, which is one of the things which makes the site so great. A healthy exchange of ideas harms no one here ... so how dare you folks call us insulting names? You say you don't want to censor anybody, but call for the complete removal of thread categories? How about the jokes, or the condolences or all the other threads which aren't "about photography" -- going to ban those too?

You are welcome to post anything you like to any of the forums as long as it is not obscene, illegal, or slanderous/insulting of any members or group. Perhaps you should consider leading by example instead of acting worse than the people you complain about -- at least "we" have some other motive for our missives than just improving our own personal browsing experience ... I suggest you just avoif reading "those threads" if you don't like them ... the storage and bandwidth hit (as long as there aren'[t a bunch of pictures in it) represents an infintesimal proportion of the site's usage -- arguably (sic) the best "bytes for the buck" section of the site.

If you post a picture I hope you get lots of comments on it. : )

As usual well said Paul, I couldn’t agree more. I also highly dislike the generalizations and lies pushed towards "us" but haven’t spoken up. Thank you.
