Guess this makes sense considering I learned English when I lived in Miami as a child. |

I'd like to see more maps from non-Americans. I wonder if, like Henk's, they're more evenly red than actual American's maps.

I can't post the map at the moment as on iPad but mine was mostly all blue going into yellow and orange on the east coast from Georgia upwards with some red in New York. Also a bit of yellow in California and Wisconsin. |

Basically found me in the New York state area, even though I'm originally from Indiana, and I answered one question the Indiana way (pop versus Soda)

Davenport, IA (Born and raised and still living), Cedar Rapids/Marion, IA, Rocky Mountain National Park/Estes Park, CO
Meh...firefly, lightning bug...all the same, I've used both terms. Kinda like 'lightning bug' a little more, because they do flash off and on sporadically :-0
I call them "Peties" LOL (always have since I was 2) the first lightning bug of the year was called Petey, lighting bugs/fireflies is what our area calls them.. this reminds of things different areas call things like: you call it coke, pop or things Soda?

There wasn't much deep colour on my map but a bit more red shading than blue (plus quite a lot of neutral). Mostly California and the west (Utah is Neutral), north east and Florida. Hawaii is red, too.
My three cities are SF, LA and Santa Ana/Irvine. The three least similar cities are Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Chattanooga. |

I spent a week in Lincoln, Nebraska when I was 18. I remember the girl at the store asking me if I wanted my "pop in a sack". It took me a moment to realize that that, yes, I did want my "soda in a bag".
Do other countries have the same variation of how words are pronounced, or what things are called?
(interesting...I just went through it again, and got different questions. Fun.)

In my neighborhood, it was always "soda pop" well except for coke, of course.
