Do ya think that either of these are alright for a family shot! I thought that weddings were stressful! This family just didnt wanna cooperate. I just shot em, but these look like the best of the bunch, and that scares me. I haven't made anyone angry as of yet, and I don't wanna.

I think they are great, really like the first one.

I really like the first one. I think I might have cropped it a little closer to the family - but then, I tend to crop too tightly, so you're probably just right!

Personally, I like the pose from the first one better, but find that the soft focus effect you've added is a little too noticeable. I like soft focus, but find that you have too much.

Good luck!

I like the pose of the 1st one better and the setting of the second. Both are good shots though! :-)

Thanks for the comments...hopefully I didnt piss them off to bad? I found a couple other decent ones too. But getting input from all of you by far overshadows what they are gonna see. So....whew! Thanks all! I bet they like em.

If they are unhappy just remember the two rules of customer service.

Rule 1. The customer is always right.
Rule 2. When the customer is wrong...refer to rule 1.
It̢۪s always worked for me and when I'm the customer that̢۪s what I expect.

I don't think you'll have to worry about it anyway. Both pics are a little soft but the poses, lighting, and the backgrounds are all good.

I was just wondering, do you ask your customers to wear white?
09/19/2004 10:34:56 PM · #10
No but I suggest them to wear neutral or coordinating clothing, with no bad patterns...why???

These are decent shots, the color shot is a bit nicer IMO/ the sepia shot displays really unhealthy body language between this family. The couple in the center is separated and there is a negative vibe from the girl on the left.
I don;t know too much about professional event protrait technique- but you can't blame it on the family, You are sure to encounter drunk, rowdy, or boring, un-enthused people- it is your challenge to bring out a "family appropriate" photo sitting. You have done this pretty well here.

I always tell my clients to NOT wear white--it really messes up the exposure! but you were wise in having them ALL wear white; that makes it easier. I like the second shot's background better, but the first one has the nicer poses, IMO. I don't care for the soft focus much and would love to see a sharper version, but if I were that family, I'd still be very pleased with your excellent work.

If I were doing the first picture I would want to crop it tighter. For some reason I don't like seeing feet. Second picture I love the colors, but there is a strange seperation between mom and dad. It looks like a weird shadow. Maybe lighten that area up in PS and see what you think. Considering the conditions you described these are really good. The clients should be very happy.
