Good night to you all.
I'm postin this thread for two reasons.
Fist, something I saw on a brasilian site of someone I think is a photograph. This is the article link.
I don't know if the page can be seen in english too. But in the article that he calls "Searshing quyalaty in lenses" he mentions a study from a german magasine, "Colorfoto", witch tests tree lenses about the same focal lenghts but different prices: Canon 24-70; Sigma 24-70; and Tamron 28-75. there's no other specifications about the lenses. But the Tamron get's the first place in the test, and Canon the last, costing more than 3 times what Tamron costs. I don't know in what conditions the test was mais but it gives you a lot to thing in...
So my first issue is: Does it really worth the extra money Canon or Nikon lenses for 300D and D70 respectively? what is your experience with your lenses?
And second, a question for D70 owners: What lenses do you own and for what purpose (macro, landscapes, nature, etc.)
tank you all

I suspect these tests are relative to price. I'd be exceptionally surprised if, without taking price into consideration, the Tamron was as good as the Canon L.

I have the Tamron lens and it is awesome!!! It is supposed to be "L" quality. That's the reason I bought it.
Here is how they are listed on the photozone test chart:
f/2.8 Wide-angle zooms Optical Quality
Canon EF 2.8 24-70mm USM L 4.16 (3) = very-good
Canon EF 2.8 28-70mm USM L 4.15 (5) = very-good
Tamron AF 2.8 28-75mm LD XR Aspherical SP 4.14 (3) = very-good

Fred Miranda User Reviews:24-70L
Tamron 28-75
My personal opinion is you pay for more than the red ring when you buy an L.... You pay top dollar for a reason.

For every rule there is an exception, and that's what the Tamron AF 28-75mm f2.8 XR Di Zoom is, an exception.
Do any other Tamron lenses rate as high?
Does anyone know of any tests or user reviews of the new Tamron SP AF200-500mm f Di LD (IF)? |
