I think lately I saw a post about this very same subject... but mine is a bit diff, I've always had a wack-em tablet, but when it comes to control with fine details I can NOT get as good control as I get with my mouse. HOWSOEVER, I have a bad problem with my middle finger (no it isn't from flipping folks off) it's got the trigger thing going and some weird thing in the knuckle tendon that swells and HURTS.. when on the mouse I always have it lifted and it don't take long before it's hurting bad.... Ok long story to get to this Question:
Is there an easybetter way to train ones hand to use the Wack-Em tablet? My hand writing is Horrid, I lean hard on a pen/pencil, when I write. Working with the tablet my hands will shake a little, and never get the pen-in the correct place always moving the tablet trying to find where Cursor should go. Suggestions?
Thanks!!! |

Normally I'd consider the tablet/stylus combo the most ergonomic, but if that doesn't work for you I suggest you try a trackball -- you can maneuver it with slight pressure/motion of the fingers, and you typically operate the button(s) with the thumb, though I've used one model with the ball on the side and operated with the thumb.
I find the ones with a larger ball can be positioned most precisely with the least effort. I really suggest going to a store and trying out one or more to see which feels most comfortable. |

You can learn to use anything if you practice. I agree with Paul. The most comfortable thing for me is a large trackball. The problem for you though may be that it's usually controlled mostly with the middle finger. There are trackballs that are controlled with the thumb. You might try that. The other thing is that you can switch hands and use the other hand. Back to my first statement...you can learn to use anything if you practice. I've had hand problems of one sort or another for my entire adult life. I've used trackballs, track pads, and Wacom tablets, both left and right handed. Right now I'm using a regular mouse left handed. Pick something that's comfortable, then make yourself use the thing exclusively. It will be awkward at first, but within a couple of weeks, you'll have no trouble. Anyone else who tries to use your computer will be flummoxed though (I keep a spare mouse for other people to use), but you will be just fine.
Also, ii assume you're right handed. Right handed people never think to try to do things left handed. Have you tried to switch the mouse to the other side? |

Thanks guys never heard of a track ball have to google it. Ann one of my BFFs uses her mouse on her left hand even though she's a lefty, she still has a wired mouse so if I sit down to fix something for her I have to use it left handed, talk about a challenge, I have to SIT n think how to right click!
Yeah I guess if I sit n work a lot more than I do now I might get it. I try to do it every now n then, tonight middle finger was killing me n cutting out a pix, so I used it, had to go back n clean up with the mouse though. I find myself moving the tablet around maybe I need to set the plate further away than I use my mouse?
Oh I just looked up track ball, I use to have one of those, ( didn't know what it was called). Yeah I didn't like that at all
