Subject days it all. I have some old files and I have no idea how they were transferred etc. It's there an easy way to check.

just looked at one of my old ones for the sake of it.
i copied the jpg (not raw) to a new folder for editing, the properies (right click / properties) says: created today, modified march 22, 2012, accessed today.

Open the file in Photoshop and check the EXIF data with File info. If the file dates all match, it's probably an original JPEG.

Finding that out is not really easy, I think. Transfer software adds entries to the Exif data, and a program that shows all Exif data might give you a clue.

Or you open the jpg in a text editor - you will see a lot of weird characters, but also maybe a string that was added by the software, such as in my case, digiKam:

...^@^@digiKam-3.5.0^@Canon^@Canon EOS 5D Mark III^@H^@^@^@^A^@^@^@H^@^@^@^A^@^@^@digiKam-3.5.0^@2014:06:01 13:21:29^@...

After pure file transfer it does not contain the digiKam strings.
