I took several new photos yesterday, and I'm also tossing in a couple of backlighting outtakes. I'd love comments and critiques on them.

First, Backlighting outtakes:

Two varieties of the same picture, obviously. The colour has more broad appeal, but I like the sepia version for some strange reason. Not sure if I made the right choice with my entry, as it didn't do very well, but oh well :)

Next, the Blue Heron Bistro:

Once again, too different versions of the same shot. I prefer the colour one, but the sepia version sort of brings out the old fashioned flair that the place does in fact have; the bar is beautifully carved, and the woods of the building are very rich and warm. The walls are covered in various vintage war propaganda posters, and the food there's fantastic. It's a nice place to go for atmosphere and a quiet meal, which is what I was trying to convey with these :)

And last but not least, views from the Mill Casino:

These were taken through a chainlink fence from the parking lot of the Mill Casino. Obviously, the landscape one is very edited... I like it that way. The original was nice, but a tad boring in my opinion. Overall, it wasn't changed that much.. the sky and such were very vivid.

C/c?

Hi! I left you comments. I think your backlit entry probably scored lower than you would have liked due to the numerous similar entries. The color one is my favorite - the sepia doesn't work right for me with this shot. I love the Bistro shot, both in color and sepia. Hard to choose. The 5th shot is really enticing to look at for my tastes. Something special in composition. The last one is quite nice, but doesn't have the imapct of the others for me personally. GREAT shots.

Nice shots... I prefer the duotone bistro, as the colour version seems too cluttered to me. The composition is much more simple in the sepia version, and therefore more effective.
