I'm looking for a digital background I can use to add into some photos my wife took at her school for some her students.
I have looked and found one on shutterstock, but they want $29 for it. I will pay for one, but not $29 since this is for only 7 students. I have searched for about 2 hours and im at my wits end :( |

What sort of background do you want?

This seems, at the very least, to be plagiarism of the posted photo. Buy a muslin, create a background, or don't rip off photos. |

Well, to achieve that effect, I think I would probably choose to use PS CC - I'd set up a brush to use foreground/background color at light gray/dark gray, and then use the jitter control to set it to go back and forth pretty crazily - set your brush up to be similar to that texture.
After you have a digital painted 'muslin', our next step is to replicate the camera blur - here I'd just go for a bit of gaussian blur, to your taste, such that it imitates the blur that would occur as a result of DOF.
Boom. Digital background.
Next trick - use the hue/saturation tool to change the color. :) |

the photo is not ripped off, my wife took the photo i posted with her phone. the photographer gave her permission to do so fully knowing I would be using it to recreate for some students that missed the photo day

All the effort and you didn't take time to straighten and whiten the teeth. I won't be using your services any time soon. ;-) |
