Lightroom suddenly decided to import my images (shot in RAW) as dng!!!!!! I haven't touched anything. I checked my camera and it's set to RAW. I've gone into LR and on the file handling tab, under file extension, it says "dng". In the dropdown menu, it doesn't offer me any other options!!!!! What gives????

From the import screen you may have inadvertently clicked "Copy as DNG" in the top center?

Edit: DNG is RAW, by the way, but the NEF files are larger and in my logic therefore have more info. You can usually find that it's copied your NEF files as well to a backup folder.

Thanks, Scott. I didn't check that, and it's like that's what happened. I just rebooted, and everything seems back to normal. Someone once said, if you've tried everything and it still doesn't work, just reboot. So far, that seems to be the best advice I ever received :)

FYI, I just checked, and in fact, yes, I had somehow managed to click "copy as dng".
