I teach at Utah State University, and they want to take my online Understanding Theatre course and make it open source so it is available to see by everyone in the world.

I could use some photos to gussy up the course! I'm afraid I can't pay you (bummer), but if you're willing, I'd love to see some photos of (mostly) people. I will certainly credit each photo, and link each back to your site or DPCPrints site. Here are some topics, if you are interested:

Theatre in Life; Theatre is Life
Theatre lighting
Costume design for stage and in life
Scenic Design for stage and in life
Tragedy (stage)
Comedy
...basically any topic relating to everyday performance and stage performance. I'll be pretty picky in terms of how the photos fit on the site, but it might be a fun way to get your photos out there.

If you have any photos you think might fit, post the thumbnails in this thread.

Thanks!

To clarify a little: if I did happen to publish this course as a CD-Textbook, I would certainly pay the artists who contributed to the course. As is now, however, this will simply be open-source course materials that will be available for free to anyone who has internet.

To be honest, it may happen, but not for a while...

I was about to post a whole load from my collection, but then it occured to me that the people featured in the photo may not want to be featured on an online course unless they can preview it first. Have you got more details I can forward on to the people involved?
Perhaps you may want to check out the 'festivals' category in my portfolio (//www.dpchallenge.com/portfolio.php?USER_ID=8522&collection_id=1140), and let me know if there are any there that you may want to use. If there are, let me know and I'll try and forward the people involved any information you might have.

This is a good point, Bob. Since I need mostly people, I'd probably need some consent forms or something. I'll have to review copyright rules for photos; there have been plenty of threads discussing this matter here on DPC. I'll also check my other books at home....

You're welcome to have this one:

He's a street performer and I asked his permission before taking the picture. (I don't have permission from the dog)

Good luck in your venture.

I don't necessarily need "theatre" photos. I just need photos that show that theatre is all around in every day life (in addition to on stage). So folks showing bravado, shyness, friends interacting, people posing for their friends--these are all appropriate. Does that help?

(I love the clown shots, BTW.)

Here are examples of possibilities after just briefly browsing a bit:

In this image, friends are 'performing' for each other, and so it might make a good image in this section of the course.

This image shows how we are always performing, even if we think no one is watching.

Here, we can see a girl playing dress-up, which might augment a unit on costume design.

This photo may help augment a lesson on climax or action in theatre.

Does that help?

Too funny sfalice!

The dog is in a public place so you don't need his/her/its permission.

I have just the image.
This was my entry for Multiple light sources, which got deleted for some reason. No idea why.
I have permission from the subject!
