It looks like there's a very interesting photo exhibition at MOLAA (Museum of Latin American Art) in Long Beach. Frida Kahlo's father was a a well-known photographer in turn-of-the-20th-Century Mexico City and evidently Frida learned a lot from him. The exhibition also includes images by Lola and Manuel Ãlvarez Bravo, Man Ray, Tina Modotti, and Edward Weston, and others who were part of the cultural whirlpool in pre-World War II Mexico City. There are also Frida's self-portraits and candid shots of her life with Diego Rivera in the Casa Azul in Mexico City. I hope I can get down to see it! |
