Since I suck at photography I'm looking for a good book to buy. Does anyone know a good or essential book on photography?

First off you don't suck at photography never put yourself down like that. Your only 15 with many years ahead of you and if you want photography to be a part of it change the way you are thinking as of now. Second, creativity - creativity - creativity, make something simple standout (WOW someone). And third, the best book is in your camera, your memory card. Start taking picture after picture after picture. Fill that memory card up, practice - practice - practice.
I am like you, scoring low but you know what I have learned, I have the eye, creativity, and passion. I just have to put the three together in one photograph.
Good Luck
Scott.
NOTE: and yes books do help.

Don't waste your money on books. Nearly all the resources you need have already been posted on the internet. In my search for education, I've blogged nearly every single resource I've found. Good luck.

A course offered online through a local college may help you. I have been doing photography for years, but never learned from a book. I decided to take a course online this summer, just to see if there was something I was missing. It did help me be more 'aware' of the composition. It just might help! If anything, you would be getting positive reinforcement from the online course instructor. I think my course was $70.

You're very welcome. I'm in the same boat as many others at DPC. Instead of bookmarking all the cool stuff, I decided to blog it so others can benefit. Hope it helps. And there's tons of pages...
