Since the forum for website suggestions was closed in favour of the now dead-as-a-doornail "get satisfaction" site, I'm going to suggest it here and cross fingers.

I purchased some vouchers for printed photobooks and had one printed of our recent Tasmania trip. Whilst I was researching for a company, I wished DPC had a section of reviews for photography related products.

Now that I have actually something to OFFER (i.e. my ten cents worth about this particular experience), I wish I had somewhere to share it (somewhere permanent that "sticks", rather than just starting a thread).

Anybody else think it would be nice to have such a resource?

Sounds like a great idea. It would be nice to hear from people who know who have had actual experience with a company or a product

My go-to place for user product reviews is Amazon. I've posted quite a few of my own reviews there, when I wish to share my experience with a product. Probably not suitable for what you are looking for, which sounds more like services than products.

Like this?

Running an (organized) review section is an extremely complex undertaking, which is why there are whole sites (e.g. DPReview devoted to it ... I honestly don't think it's worth spending the coding time when there are other "needs" here and other resoutrces available. In the meantime, search the forums for a thread concerning the product or company you are curious about -- and if there's nothing there, it's probably good news ... :-)

Yes, there are review sites.

However, so much of that is purely American - no good to me, when I was looking for a review of an Aussie company. I realize that DPC, too, is mostly American, but there are a few "others" around, as well.

Most of all, I trust you lot much more than just any old unknown "somebody" off the internet.

Do we have to have a super organized section? Couldn't we just have a few categories, and the chance to write a few lines about our experience/purchase?

I think people typically post things in the Hardware/Software section. It's complicated becasue you'd need both threads on companies, and on specific items.

I think if you have a question or comment about an item or company, just start a thread there -- it's rare to not get any answers ...
