The old version of the 14-140mm Panny lens has seen some incredible pricing lately...as low as $399.
The new 14-140 is also on sale for the time being, at around $629. Is the new one worth the difference?
Of course, if I'm spending $600+ on a variable aperture superzoom for M43, I get close to wondering if I'd be better off at $1200 and getting the RX10 which is 24-200 at F2.8 (and Zeiss). Still too much cash though to get me to step forward. (I bought the Panny FZ200 when it was on sale to try and keep me from buying the RX10, but I don't think it's nearly as good.) |

Does the FZ200 have IS? When I was researching M43 cameras years ago Panasonic was putting IS in their lenses while Olympus including it in the camera bodes. Not sure how you plan to use the camera but it's nice to have IS for handheld shots. This might be an important consideration when comparing lenses. I'm pretty happy with my Olympus 14-150mm f/4.0-5.6 M.Zuiko Digital ED but it has no IS.
Good luck with your search.

Both of these lenses have IS.
The FZ200 is a fixed lens (24-600mm) camera. The M43 camera I have is the G5, and it doesn't have in-body IS. The FZ200 should really eliminate the need for a G5 lens like the 14-140, but while the FZ200 lens is sharp as can be, the sensor is small and I don't think it compares in image quality to the larger sensors. |
