As this site is about photography and many people would say that photography is an art form, then you could say that the people who frequent this site are artists. Artists have a reputation for being a little more high strung, a little more in touch with the emotional realm, and more passionate regarding just about everything. I suggest the above as an explanation for the excessive amount of bitching that goes on in the forums.

Yes, I am pitching a bitch about the amount of bitching!

Is there anything that ya̢۪ll won̢۪t bitch about?

If everyone registered at DPC stops posting threads about politics, will that make it all better? How about if everyone is PC all the time and no one ever suggests that another’s choice of camera is wrong? What if we decide that the use of PS filters are about artistic expression and didn’t get our panties in a wad when we saw a photo processed into the ‘digital art’ realm? How about we stop taking scores so personally and we don’t post any more threads about how no one gets our vision? This last idea will be a toughy for me as my scores in the Smoke and Mirror challenges are far below what they should be! (My photos are the really cool, outside the box, images that should be getting solid 10s!) What if we stop discussing [insert your current angst here] altogether? That would help, right?

Hey, I have a really wacky idea! It’s really out there but indulge me, K! What if we took all this energy that we are currently wasting on bitching and instead, funnel it into our work!? Do you think that all that redirected passion would make our images better? Maybe even have that WOW factor that I’ve heard rumors about? I wonderâ€Â¦

Oh, silly me! I digressâ€Â¦

Quit yer bitchin̢۪!!!

I am with you on this one!!!!! And as just one other option -- another great way to use up pent up energy -- is give out some positive feedback and remarks to folks here. Amazing stuff -- that good energy.

I am in total agreement. Most artist are seriously defragmented because they want to experience their emotions without censorship. However, we are more frail than we suppose. The object is to feel the emotions, but to curtail their negative man-eating tendencies. It is earsy to get swallowed in flames wherein we are unable to function.

The wise artist learns to channel this surge of the unconscience in his wild pursuit of a creation. Think of the nights you went to sleep thinking about the injustice your current or past work has received...what if you look the other way and say, I will use this energy for my next creations. I will not tire and continue to use this energy to create and let the pieces fall wherever. In other words, you should redirect your energies always to the next creation and do not look back, except to learn.
