Alleys are everywhere, hidden in plain sight. Make a picture of, or in, an alleyway this week. Just make sure to watch your back. Advanced editing.

I was driving to work earlier this week when I passed by an alley and did a double take at the morning light that made me want to jump out of my car to go photograph it. I didn't (couldn't, actually), but came away with this challenge suggestions.

I like it, too.
And in French, alley can mean lane or even a path in a garden. If you check several dictionaries, you will see that the meaning is broader than you might think. This a good thing as everyone does not live in an American city with the kind of alley we think of there.

Yes, alleys are not just an American thang. A passage étroit, a callejón, or a hutong would work as well. It's not necessarily a human thing either -- a glacial crevasse or a slot canyon would also fit.

And cats live in alleys, so we could just take pictures of a cat too. That'd be fine right?

Plus alleys are in cities, or towns, so if you just take a picture of a town from an airplane, then you know you have alleys in it, so clearly that'll work.

..

Or maybe, radical idea here, we could just actually take pictures of alleys, you know, like the classic definition of what the challenge suggestion says? ;)

With your obvious expertise I'd say this challenge is right up your alley ... :-)

Maybe when you're feeling better maybe we can find a nice smooth lawn and go bowling ...

cats, yeah, great idea. especially if it's in an alley. or a piet mondrian. as long as it has rectangles and squares. And is in an alley. :)
I think the idea here is that an alley is in the eye of the beholder. Or the voter. or both.
