I finally went to register my lenses on Nikon's site...I just got two new ones, but never did the old ones.
Then I discovered something weird -- my Nikon 16-35 F4 VR does not have a serial number on the lens. I bought it from B&H a year ago; it came with the box, which has a serial number, and the US serial number warranty card, so it looks legit. The receipt says it's a USA lens too.
BUT: The lens itself does not have a serial number on it...anywhere that I can find.
Is this a "defect"? Does yours have a serial number?
BTW - The box says it's made in Japan too, unlike most of my Nikon lenses which were made in China or Hong Kong.

The interwebz think that not being able to find the serial number on this lens is a common problem. Apparently, it's "engraved on the bottom of the lens where it mounts to the camera. It is hard to notice without a flashlight." |
